IN HIM, YOUR DESTINY IS SECURED

Today still I am dwelling with the book of Ruth and concentrating on chapter 1:19 and 20 which reads:

“… And it came to pass, when they were come to Bethlehem, that all the city was moved about them, and they said, Is this Naomi? And she said to them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me.”

NAOMI means SWEETNESS while MARA goes for BITTER experience. As she recalls her experience over the past decade, she could make nothing out of it than the lost of three love ones she went out with. Her only consolation was a stranger RUTH the Moabite.

“Is this Naomi?” The whole city chorused as they all came out to welcome her back. It mean they could still the tresses of Naomi’s looks but her condition has deteriorated beyond their expectation. She knew it herself but did not commit suicide as some would have done. She summed up courage to return but decided that due to all she has been through, her name should be change to BITTERNESS instead of SWEETNESS in Naomi.

You can see this same attitude in the prodigal son when he finally decided to return back home. He requested that he be seen no more as a son but a servant. Instead, his father welcomes him with a change of clothing and celebration. Naomi was never called Mara by those who welcomed her rather; her name becomes a delight to most families even today. One can only equate what they did as a sign of absolute humility and the state of their heart at this point of return. A broken and contrite spirit produces humility and God will not ignore it.

Everyone was destined by God to succeed in life but most at times, situations of life try to bend us to the opposite. If we can humble ourselves and return to God, it doesn’t matter how you’ve ended this year, your name and destiny will not be change to what you were not made to be. It might seem as though in spite of all effort invested and good you’ve done, live has given back bitterness to you in 2013, your name still remains SWEETNESS.

Have a blessed day as we go to God with humility of heart in Jesus name.
