THE MISSIONARY's NOTE - 1
THE MISSIONARY'S NOTE:
Quote:
At the time that you were born into this world, you cried while the world and those around you laughed. You’re expected to do something so that when you die, and out of this world, you will laugh while the world cries.
Psalms 5:1-3 (NKJV)
Give ear to my words, O. Lord, consider my meditation. Give heed to the voice of my cry, my King and my God, for to you I will pray. My voice you shall hear in the morning, O Lord; In the morning I will direct it to you, And I will look up.
In my reflection, I remembered that it was with the above quoted verses that Rev. Simeon Afolabi opened the International Communion of Ministers (I.C.M.) on the 1st day of December, 2009 at the First Love Assembly, Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He said that every day should be a day of expectation for the child of God.
I also say that it is insane to live your life without expectation. Expectation shapes our lives and attitude. It gives us sense of direction in life. For instance, if I am expecting a visitor in my house at 9.00 am, I will not start traveling to another town at 8.00 am. So my movement has been restricted by my expectation.
Rev. Afolabi later introduced Dr. Sylvanus Ukafia to give a talk and he open up with the topic: The Vital Role of Relationship In Leadership. The text was taken from John 13:15 and it says:
For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.
This was Jesus’ words as quoted from the New King James Version.
I’ve lived more than half of my life serving God. By the end of 2016, I will be 45 years old. Then, I will be 30 years since I started following JESUS. It will also mark my 28th year since I had a one-on-one personal encounter with the Lord JESUS and a remarkable 25th year as a full-time minister. Not forgetting that this year will also mark my 21 years as a faith missionary on the field. I am married to a loving wife with seven lovely children.
It could only take positive expectation in my relationship with God to lead me thus far. Nothing else in the world interests me than His purpose for my life. With no salary whatever and no major support and source of income, I have been able to sail through these years looking up to God as the one who calls though not without challenges.. Heaven remains my headquarter, my home-base country in whom I remains an Ambassador for JESUS, my KING.
There is no relationship that is void of expectation. But we must guide our motives to be in line with the word of God. Let me share with you some of the truth I learned from Dr. Ukafia during the I.C.M. at Port Harcourt in 2009.
He said that "people were Jesus’ passion and that’s why He always touches their lives. No one will follow a leader who does not know how to relate with people. An effective leader will always be the one who focuses on others and not on himself."
An example Jesus shows us was that, everyone who related with Him did not remain the same. This was His expectation in relationship. Success to effective leadership is in developing people. Of course, it is love that can lead a man in this direction.
Nobody sees love without recognizing it. Let LOVE be your driving force in your relationship and your expectation shall by pure and accomplish.
Thanks so much for taking out time to go through these page.
